Settle yourself comfortably because Iā€™m about to tell you a story of a place you might know, West of the Sea, East of the Lakes, South of Scotia and North of the Tyne

North of the Tyne, Under the Stars told the tale of a mysterious visitor, a Story-Weaver called down from the stars to travel the area and spin a new story about Newcastle, Northumberland and North Tyneside.

The Story-Weaver visited Blyth, North Shields, Wallsend, Byker, Fenham and Hexham on her quest, before gathering up all of the ingredients she had collected and weaving them into a magical festival finale in Newcastle City Centre.

Over three weekends and six different locations, magical and mysterious events took place in local parks. Whispering voices and flickering flames led the way to a dramatic portal, carved with celestial secrets. As the space within the portal shimmered into life, the Story-Weaver, our interstellar alchemist, appeared from the stars. She told of her quest to travel the region North of the Tyne and weave a new fable about it. She was searching for the connecting threads which draw together fact and fiction, history and future, young and old, urban and rural.  She asked for our help to celebrate the beauty and wonder of this place and implored us to use our imaginations and inspiration to conjure up a tale of our region.

Neighbourhood Events took place in Ridley Park - Blyth, Northumberland Park - North Shields, Richardson Dees Park - Wallsend, Ballast Hills - Byker, Nuns Moor Park - Fenham and Abbey Grouds - Hexham. Over 15,000 people met the Story-Weaver on her journey across the region before the Festival Finale in Newcastle.
